Hole in the Wall
A computer scientist named Sugata Mitra, decided to put computers in a location in India where there were no computers. He saw how excited and intereseted the children were when they were on the computer and how quickly they learned how to use it. The computers allowed the children in India to become a lot more informed and educated.
HP
In Africa, many teachers are expected to purchase their own laptops and bring them to work, but given their salary that proves to be difficult. So the company HP stepped in and gave many African teachers laptops for free, to allow the teacher to teach the class a lot better.
Microsoft
The company Microsoft is beaming free internet connection to Kenya using TV frequencies, allowing people who are lucky enough to use computers to be able to acces the internet.
ICF
The ICF, a branch of the World Bank, assists different companies in trying to help out developing nations. They lend them money and expect them to use it on something that will benefit many different countries, not just their company.
Not only major companies and rich people can help!
You the people can also help close this digital divide by donating old and used electronics that you may not need but can benefit some other person in the developing worlds, kids and seniors can help. You dont need to be the CEO of microsoft to help.
